Robyn is a US Navy Veteran who is the founder of Talents ASCEND. Following nine years of service, Robyn was told her civilian career would have to start from the bottom because her skills from the military would not translate.
Although it took several years to climb back up, the experience left her with the drive and determination to ensure that the same thing did not continue to happen for veterans, military spouses, people with disabilities, and justice-involved candidates.
If she could change anything in the world it would be to advocate for people to be seen for the skills that they bring to an organization. Not to fit into a business's box, but to design their box and be chosen because of it.
Her company has built a skills-based hiring platform that matches candidates to employers without a resume. Candidates create one profile and match it to their employer opportunities based on the skills that they have and want to use in their next career. They also have a division that works to get candidates career-ready. It's not just about matching them to the opportunities she believes. Candidates need to understand how to speak about the skills that they have.
They have been impacting communities ever since 2018 to focus on the Veteran community that expanded throughout the last several years to the entire U.S. population. Not only do they maintain a focus on our underserved communities; veteran and military families, individuals with diverse abilities, but those who have been previously incarcerated as well.
